Lisa M. Betthauser, M.B.A., Past President, CWFHA
Lisa is a clinical psychology doctoral student in the Clinical Health Psychology program at the University of Colorado at Denver. Lisa earned a Masters of Business Administration in Health Administration from the University of Colorado at Denver in December 2006. Lisa also has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Certificate in Neuroscience from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Currently, she conducts research at the VISN 19 Mental Illness, Research, Education, and Clinical Center, at the Denver Veteran Affairs (VA) Medical Center. Lisa has worked with the MIRECC for 4 years studying posttraumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, and suicide. She has co-authored 5 publications and presented numerous posters and symposia related to these areas. Lisa was awarded a pilot grant from the VISN 19 MIRECC to fund her thesis project. In addition, Lisa has co-authored a $100,000 grant, awarded by the Mental Health Quality Enhancement Research Initiative. The Self-Directed Violence Classification System (SDVCS) and Clinical Tool developed from this grant have been adopted by the national VA and are being rolled out nationwide; she is co-authoring a second grant to assist with the implementation of the SDVCS. Lisa also works on a Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program grant, collaborating with research teams at Fort Carson, Fort Bragg, and the Defense Veterans Brain Injury Center, studying PTSD and TBI in the active duty OEF/OIF population. Lisa assists with several other research and educational efforts at the MIRECC at the Denver VA.

Lisa is not studying or conducting research she can be found enjoying
Colorado’s beautiful mountains with her husband and her dog, gardening,
reading, or cooking.
